The Draper Collection
Summer picnics, warm fall button downs, neatly wrapped Christmas presents….they all look best with little buffalo check! No matter the season, the versatile check transforms itself with color.
Our inspiration for the Draper Collection came to us on one of those late summer days, when fall is starting to peek around the corner. We love those days – when the hot days melt into cool evenings. It’s a time to sit back, relax and enjoy the change in the air. Or, if you are a planner like me, it’s time to start thinking about Christmas! There is no better time to dream of new holiday decorations than on a hazy summer evening.
This year, we found ourselves spreading out a hot pink buffalo check blanket for an afternoon picnic and dreaming about a neat, tidy buffalo check ribbon tied on a boxwood wreath. That was when we realized there is no better classic but modern, playful but elegant way to ground a room than buffalo check. And the Draper Collection was born!
So why is this new collection called the Draper? While studying Interior Design at High Point University, I quickly found my designer spirit animal in Dorothy Draper. Her iconic use of color and her pattern mixing inspired me with its controlled energy. Don’t get me wrong – a soothing blue gray wall is my “go-to”, but it is so refreshing to see a space that is not afraid to stand up and make a bold statement! As someone who grew up with bubble gum pink walls and gingham bedding, Dorothy Draper’s design voice spoke to me. The iconic, trending banana leaves print? Thank Dorothy Draper. As I was designing the Draper Collection, I could not help but feel as though this versatile design would be right at home in any of Dorothy Draper’s spaces.
As I was designing and dreaming of the Draper Collection, I took a shopping break. Where better place to shop while being inspired by a Draper than Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James line? Draper James is a southern clothing and accessories brand named after Reese Witherspoon’s grandparents (no relation to Dorothy Draper – but just as fabulous). I adore their classic, southern prints and I wasn’t surprised to see buffalo check in their fall line up! Reese Witherspoon has inspired me as I started this business – she has found a beautiful way to celebrate southern tradition and women entrepreneurs! Talk about life goals.
We love everything Draper James and Dorothy Draper stand for and could not think of two better sources for inspiration for our new Draper Collection.
We want to celebrate the traditional buffalo check print, while still making it a June St. George original! We wanted to make sure that no matter what size rug you chose, the design wouldn’t overpower the rest of your room, so we’ve changed the spacing and color blocking. By breaking up the crossing bands, we’ve given the design a defined “base” color that gives your eye a place to rest. You can choose the layout and colors and we, as always, will add a custom monogram to celebrate your bespoke life!
So what colors are you dreaming of? We love Boxwood green and Cranberry red for a Christmas design, but pretty pastels or blues and grays also look stunning and inviting.
If you can’t decide, we’re always here to help you create the foundation of you room and the rug of your dreams. We love celebrating your personal style and hope you love the Draper Collection as much as we do!

After you’ve ordered your Draper rug, we suggest checking out these two books to learn more about the fabulous women who inspire us every day! And it will spice your coffee table when you’ve finished reading!
